Why a trust, after Oct 9, 2026
You no longer need a trust to buy a suppressor, SBR, SBS or AOW. ATF dropped the approval and registration requirement. A trust is still the cleanest way to:
- Let your spouse or family legally share possession
- Pass items to heirs without probate or a transfer
- Keep everything in order if you choose to register voluntarily
- Hold machine guns or destructive devices, which still need full NFA approval
